PAYMENT OPTIONS:

Credit Card

We accept AMEX, MasterCard, Visa and Discover. Choose Pay by Credit Card at the online registration checkout. You will be redirected to the credit card payment processor after clicking submit. Please have your credit card ready. Once payment is successfully completed, you will receive a payment receipt and a registration confirmation by email. There is a $5 credit card convenience fee assessed at the time of payment. Credit cards can only be accepted online.

At this time, Sallie Mae, Wells Fargo, and KHEAA are the only providers on the list that allow noncredit certificates to be approved.

*Use the following James Madison University Continuing Education school code when applying: 003721-98. Using the incorrect school code will delay your application.

  • The requested loan amount cannot exceed the course fee.
  • You must be registered in the course prior to Outreach certifying the loan. Complete and submit the registration form.
  • Fill out a Private Loan Self Certification Form. This form will be provided during the application process by your lender. If your lender has requested a Self-Certification Form and has not provided one to you, contact your lender or complete the above form and submit it to your lender. You will not receive your loan funds until this step is complete.
NOTE: These loans are not backed by the federal government and therefore may have terms and conditions less favorable than federally funded student and parent loans. The information on this site is accurate as of the date the information was collected. Because these are private loans, lenders can change the terms and conditions of these loans without notifying JMU. We suggest you verify this information with any lender on this chart prior to applying for a loan with that company. You may borrow with any lender offering a private education loan, and you are not required to borrow with any of the lenders on this site. Noncredit courses are not eligible for federal financial aid therefore FAFSA is not required.

Employer/Sponsor Billing

If your course fee will be paid directly by your employer or other third party, you can request billing to a sponsor. This request must be received no later than 1 month prior to the course start date. Complete and submit the registration form along with your sponsor's contact information to initiate the billing. Sponsor authorization documentation on official letterhead or other authorizing documents must be received within 3 days of registration to confirm your registration. You will receive a registration confirmation once the documents are received and processed.

WIA Assistance

All of our non-credit workforce development training programs have been certified by the Shenandoah Valley Workforce Investment Board for persons eligible for Virginia WIA training assistance. There are very specific eligibility requirements. Please contact your local Virginia Workforce Centers One Stop for more information on determining eligibility and your next steps.

MyCAA Scholarship Program (Workforce Development Program for Eligible Military Spouses)

Our institution is approved for participation in the MyCAA scholarship and most of our non-credit workforce development training programs are eligible. Please complete and submit the registration form to receive the non-credit education and training plan you will need to submit with your MyCAA application. Visit the MyCAA AI Portal for more information on eligibility requirements.


Registration Deadline: Registration closes 2 weeks prior to class start date. Late registrations may be accepted up to 5 business days prior to the class start date and will incur a $25 late registration fee.

Withdrawal/Refund Policy: You may cancel your registration up to two weeks before the program start date, and receive a refund of course registration fees, less a $25.00 administrative fee and any credit card processing fees. After that date, no refunds will be given. Participants may transfer to a future program (within one year of your original program), based on availability, with no penalty. We will accept participant substitutions with at least 2 business days notice. To withdrawal from a course you must send a request in writing to outreach@jmu.edu.
