University Recreation (UREC) at James Madison University is accepting applications for a Technology Manager. The mission of University Recreation is to promote and advance healthy lifestyles through educational programs, participation opportunities and supportive services. Our qualified staff is committed to excellence and responsive to the developmental needs of our participants. UREC offers the JMU community a comprehensive menu of recreational and educational opportunities. We have a dedicated student staff of over 425 along with 10 graduate assistants from around the country and 28 professional staff. University Recreation has recently opened a new 137,815 sq. ft. addition and is currently renovating approximately 30,000 sq. ft. with full completion scheduled for fall of 2016.

The UREC Technology Manager manages UREC's software and information systems (including Microsoft Exchange, Innosoft Fusion, Signwave, Four Winds, Cascade, IMLeagues, Timeclock Plus, Keywatcher, Neptune Radio, Access Databases and Listservs). The Technology Manager will research, implement, install and evaluate new technological strategies, serve as liaison to JMU IT (educate and enforce proper use of technology and security), manage UREC's technological hardware, and provide leadership and supervision to technology student employees.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated expertise in troubleshooting/maintaining complex software programs and a wide-range of hardware; the ability to train others to utilize software/hardware; possess excellent problem-solving and communication skills; the ability to manage a technology budget and inventory; possess working knowledge of evolving technology trends/best practices; and the ability to collaborate and contribute in a team environment.

Experience supervising students, a bachelor's degree in computer sciences/related field or extensive formal training, and professional experience in a technology-related position are preferred. Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background investigation.
