CoB Hosts Donor Recognition Dinner

Scholarship recipients, donors and Beta Gamma Sigma inductees were honored on Oct 15 at the College of Business Donor Recognition Dinner, held at the Festival Ballroom on the JMU campus. Dr. Mary Gowan welcomed the attendees and recognized the many scholarship recipients and the generous donors who made the scholarships possible. Earlier in the day, 41 students were inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma, the honor society for AACSB accredited business programs. These students were also recognized at the banquet.

Faculty members who have received private support in the form of professorships and fellowships, as well as research and teaching support, were also honored during the banquet.

Speakers included student Andrew Carlone and CIS Professor Dr. Tom Dillon.

Dillon spoke of his opportunity to engage students with real world challenges, and the impact of these projects. Student Carlone, co-founder of JobLink, talked about the entrepreneurial spirit at JMU and his experiences. Carlone is the inaugural winner of the Fallon scholarship; he expressed his appreciation for the gift.

President Jon Alger wrapped up the event by emphasizing JMU’s role as the national model for the engaged university. He talked about numerous opportunities for engaged learning, including study abroad experiences.
