Forbes Center Open House
College of Visual and Performing Arts
The Forbes Center for the Performing Arts at James Madison University is opening its doors to the Harrisonburg community and beyond for an open house on Saturday, September 8, 2018, from 10 am to 2 pm. The event is free of charge to the public. Open house highlights include backstage tours every 15 minutes as well as educational workshops and mini performances in the venues every 15 minutes.
Guests can attend an interactive dance workshop and mini theatre and musical theatre performances; learn how to play the ukulele with JMUke; learn about the design and construction of Steinway pianos; learn about lighting and sound design; experience demonstrations on stage combat, stage makeup techniques, and percussion concepts; and learn about the development of costumes from the page to the stage and through the ages. Children can also make theatre masks, get their faces painted, and participate in theatre games. In addition, attendees can sign up to win free tickets to upcoming Forbes Center performances.
Free parking will be available in the Warsaw Parking Deck, directly behind the Forbes Center.
