JMU Mathematics & Statistics in the News

JMU Math & Stat students place in COMAP Competition

The COMAP results are out! The JMU Team of Josh Banton, John Boyle and Christina Kelly did Problem C and were awarded MERITORIOUS (the second highest grade). There were 8011 students who did this problem and they were one of only 7 non-Chinese teams to get this grade. There were only two teams from the USA to get this grade (and one who was a Finalist), and they were one of them! It's a fantastic achievement. Please congratulate them if you see them. And a big thanks to all of you who supported them when they were competing.Link to Problem C: https://www.mathmodels.org/Problems/2023/MCM-C/2023_MCM_Problem_C.pdf
