Gabriele (Associate Professor, Biology) received $320,135 from the National Institutes of Health for "Eph-eprhin Signaling in Mapping Auditory Midbrain Circuitry" to determine how Eph receptors and ephrins guide patterned auditory circuit formation, to test their functional importance and to apply mechanisms learned to fields of plasticity, recovery and regeneration. 02

Halpern (Dean, University Studies; Professor, Art, Design and Art History) received $40,000 from the Association of American Colleges and Universities for "Blue Ridge Community College-JMU Quality Collaboratives Project" to increase the number and explore more fully the success of BRCC students who transfer into two educational areas of need at JMU: teacher education/interdisciplinary liberal studies and selected science, technology, engineering and mathematics majors. 02

Kolvoord (Interim Director, School of Engineering; Professor, Integrated Science and Technology) received $3,500 from Rockingham Memorial Hospital Healthcare for "GIS Analysis of Health Indicators in Harrisonburg/Rockingham County" to provide GIS support and analysis for the RMH Strategic Prevention Framework State Incentive Grant, which will focus on reducing alcohol-related motor vehicle crashes in Rockingham County among 15-24 year-olds. 02

McKown (Professor, Integrated Science and Technology) received $58,525 from the U.S. Army Medical Research and Material Command to study the levels of the novel glycoprotein lacritin in human tears after laser refractive surgery. 02
