Adesanya (Assistant Professor, Art and Art History) received the 2012 Distinguished Africanist Research Excellence Award at the Africa Conference held at the University of Texas at Austin. The award honors exceptional academic work and research as well as leadership in the field of research. Adesanya's most recent book, "Carving Wood, Making History: The Fakeye Family, Modernity and Yoruba Woodcarving," was published in November 2011. She is the co-editor of "Migrations and Creative Expressions in Africa and the African Diasporas" and co-author of "Etches of Fresh Waters," a collection of poems. Seifert will discuss how JMU uses quantitative skills assessment data to enhance quantitative skills of students in the science curriculum. He will also discuss strategies for engaging academics in curricular improvements regarding quantitative skills. |
