Civic engagement was the order of the day on Oct. 27 as thousands gathered on JMU's campus for political rallies.

Civic engagement was the order of the day on Oct. 27 as thousands gathered on JMU's campus for political rallies.

JMU celebrated a first on Oct. 27 — a presidential nominee visited campus. Thousands of community members, professors and students gathered in the Convocation Center to hear Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama. In response, the JMU College Republicans held a Keep Virginia Red Rally at the Festival Conference and Student Center lawn.
