Latin American Chamber Music Festival at JMU

The ARCOS Trio Seunghee Lee (violin), JMU Faculty Carl Donakowski (cello), Anthony Padilla (piano), will present a concert of works for piano trio by American and Latin American composers Wednesday November 16th at 8 pm in the Forbes Center Recital Hall as part of a festival of Latin American chamber music. The program will include the Tango-inspired Four Seasons of Buenos Aires of Argentinean composer Astor Piazzolla and a work by Puerto Rican-American composer Roberto Sierra which was commissioned by the ARCOS Trio. Mr. Sierra, a JMU/CVPA Diversity Artist, will talk about his work at 7pm in a pre-concert lecture in the Recital Hall. This concert is supported in part by the JMU Office of Diversity, the National Endowment for the Arts and the Arts Council of the Valley. The festival also includes a concert on Tuesday November 15th at 6 pm in Anthony-Seeger. JMU student ensembles will perform a variety of chamber music by Latin American composers with a pre-concert talk by JMU musicology professor Dr. Pedro Aponte.
