Jim Sochacki, Associate Director
Jim is a Professor of Mathematics who came to JMU 1988. He was principal investigator on two NSF grants that helped develop the department's applied mathematics component. These grants also created the Center for Computational Mathematics and Modeling at JMU, a multi-disciplinary undergraduate research center and a collaborative computational science program with the Department of Physics and North Carolina Central University. He helped build a 72 node parallel computing and visualization beowulf system at JMU, and is interested in numerical solutions of initial value problems in differential equations and doing research with undergraduate students.
