Explanation of Sources
Data for the Statistical Summary were gathered from a variety of sources, including internal statistical reports, downloads of data
from the administrative computer, reports that are sent by the Office of Institutional Research to state and federal government agencies,
JMU offices, etc. At the end of each table is listed the source(s) for the data that are in the table. Many of the sources are from reports
submitted to the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) and the federal government's data collection system, the
Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS). In instances where the data source is either SCHEV or IPEDS reports,
the report number and name are given. Any additional questions about the sources of data or
methodology can be directed to the
Office of Institutional Research.
