Honor Societies

JMU hosts chapters of:


Phi Beta Kappa,

the oldest and most prestigious academic honor society in the United States, open to majors in the liberal arts and sciences,

 

and

 

Phi Kappa Phi,

a highly prestigious honor society open to all majors, providing many fellowships and scholarships supporting foreign and graduate study.


Recent inductees

Phi Beta Kappa (spring 2012) and Phi Kappa Phi (spring 2012)

 

PBK and PKP each present an annual award for the best senior honors thesis, with a cash prize of $250.

Congratulations to the 2012 award winners:

Matthew Wallace (Phi Beta Kappa) and Sam Lasky (Phi Kappa Phi)


Matthew, a biology major, wrote about Topographic and Patterned Axonal Projections in Control and Mutant Ephrin-B2 Mice Prior to the Onset of Hearing.
Sam, an international affairs major, wrote about Causes of US Humanitarian Intervention in the Post-Cold War Era.
