Honors Program Office

The Honors Program Office is located in Hillcrest 107. The first-floor suite contains the offices of the program director, the program secretary and student assistants, as well as a large reception room.Senior honors  projects from 1986 to the present and the Kathryn Eye Collection of African Art are exhibited in the Hillcrest Reception Room. 


Office hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Offices are closed for university holidays.   

The office phone number is 540-568-6953. Should students need to contact a member of the program staff at a time when the office is not open, they may telephone and leave a voice mail message, send an e-mail message to honors@jmu.edu or FAX a message to 540-568-8079. 

The office of the Associate Director is located in Hillcrest B3. Office hours vary from semester to semester. Current office hours are: Mon/Wed 8:30am-6:pm, Tues/Thurs 8:30am-7pm, and Fridays from 8:30am-4pm. Any changes will be posted outside the office door or may be obtained from the Honors Program Secretary. 

Appointments to meet with the Director or Associate Director should be scheduled through the Honors Secretary, telephone 540-568-6953. 

Honors Computer Lab

Located in Hillcrest B2, the Honors Computer Lab provides DOS/Windows 95 and Macintosh computers—some with Zip drives and with access  to a scanner.  Network programs, including Microsoft  Office, Netscape and Simeon, are available on all  computers, and all are networked to a laser printer.  Software packages available include SPSS; Astound;  Quark Xpress; Adobe Acrobat, Illustrator, PageMaker  and PhotoShop; and Art Historian II. Use of this facility  is limited to honors students and faculty. The lab is open  approximately 70 hours a week. Lab hours are posted  on the door. 

Honors Student Lounge

Located in Hillcrest B1, the student lounge provides space  for honors students to gather informally in a social setting.  Facilities include comfortable seating, a sink, small refrigerator,  microwave and a telephone for campus and local calls. Lounge  hours, the same as lab hours, are posted on the door.
