Bridget joined the JMU sports medicine staff as an assistant athletic trainer and instructor in July 2003. Her primary sport responsibilities include women's soccer and softball. In addition, Bridget is the primary instructor for Therapeutic Modalities for Athletic Trainers.
Bridget is originally from Erie, Pa. She began her undergraduate degree at Penn State University in 1991. While at Penn State, she was a member of the women's soccer team. Bridget majored in exercise and sports science with a concentration in athletic training. Her minor was in health education. Upon completion of her undergraduate degree in December of 1996, she accepted an interim assistant athletic trainer position at Penn State.
Bridget began her graduate degree at West Virginia University in August 1997. She was an educational graduate assistant, and she served a clinical rotation with the women's soccer team. In this educational role, Bridget was responsible for the selection and education of prospective athletic training students. In addition, she taught four athletic training courses.
Following the completion of her master's degree in May of 1999, Bridget accepted a position as an assistant athletic trainer at Virginia Military Institute. Her primary sport responsibilities included men's basketball and men's soccer. In 2002 she was also hired as VMI's first senior woman athletic administrator. Bridget was on staff at VMI for four years until accepting her current position at JMU.
Bridget is married to Patrick McSorley, and they reside in Harrisonburg with their daughter Morgan.
