Gandhi Center logo

The Gandhi Center logo includes a spiral form. The spiral is one of the most basic shapes found in nature and one of the most ancient symbols of growth, change, and transformation. For the Gandhi Center it evokes the processes that lead outward, onward, and upward from conflict toward creativity and harmony.

International Academy of Gandhi Studies

The Gandhi Center has established a new academic society, the International Academy of Gandhi Studies. The Academy is a learned society and professional association of teachers and research scholars. The Academy is dedicated to furthering knowledge of the philosophy and thought of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. This will be accomplished through conferences and meetings, publications and an online journal, programs, and membership services. Within a context of free inquiry and critical examination, the Academy would welcome all disciplined reflections on Gandhian thought and seek to enhance its broad public understanding.

The chairperson of the Academy is Lord Bhikhu Parekh, and its president, Dr. Sushil Mittal.

The International Academy of Gandhi Studies will officially come into existence in the second quarter of 2008; further details will be available then.
