A pharmacy is where you go to get medication when you are sick.

Pharmacies have any medicine you may need from prescriptions from your doctor to over-the-counter medicines like cold medications.

When you buy over-the-counter medicines or have your prescription filled at the pharmacy, remember these four things:

• Ask questions about the medicine you are taking.
• Know if the medicine has any side effects and what they are.
• Learn the facts about the medicines you are taking.
• Read the label every time you take your medicine.

You can also buy other items at a pharmacy, ranging from cleaning supplies, school supplies, household items and gifts.
