The Department of Engineering requires that each student have a laptop computer. Laptops can be purchased at the JMU Bookstore. We also will require specific software packages that will also be made available to you through the bookstore when you purchase your texts for the semester. When clicking on the computer specifications link below, please note, the Department of Engineering is listed under the College of Integrated Science and Technology.
Microsoft Development Network (MSDN) DreamSpark Webstore:
Students enrolled in Department of Engineering classes are eligible to download and license select Microsoft software, including Windows, free of charge at our JMU - CISE / DreamSpark Webstore: http://e5.onthehub.com/WebStore/Welcome.aspx?ws=e1117553-c29b-e011-969d-0030487d8897
If you are using the system for the first time, please click "Register" and enter your complete Dukes email address. If you have forgotten your password, click "Forgot username or password" and enter your complete Dukes email address.
If you are accessing DreamSpark from Linux or Apple OS, you will still need to license the products you need, but you can download the software from our own servers at: https://lab-web.cise.jmu.edu/iso/msdn (log in using your JMU eID and password). Please make sure to match your software and version exactly or your product codes from DreamSpark will not work.
If you have any questions, or have any difficulty logging into DreamSpark, or in licensing or downloading the software, please email CiseLabOpsHelp@jmu.edu for assistance.
