A vehicle that allows us to unite as a JMU Community and show that WE CARE about agencies in our local community.

Agencies like...The Food Bank, Free Clinic, and of course the local United Way.

The CVC is a chance to invest in agencies that care for our neighbors in Harrisonburg, Rockingham County, and Augusta County when they are hurting. Our unemployment rate is on the rise, people are out of jobs. Some folks are going hungry, some can't afford medications, others childcare.

I ask when you open up your bright red CVC envelope, that you look at it a bit differently. Let the red symbolize the urgent need that exists in our local community during times of economic downturn. Imagine all of the good, hardworking, local families that are struggling.

Then, think about how you can give back and make a difference.

This year, the CVC's theme is "See the Difference Two Dollars Can Make". If you have never given, consider a gift, if only $2 a paycheck or $48 a year. Even small gifts can go a long way when we join together.

Also, this year for the first time, you can choose to give online with a credit card.
