Most foundations are mission-driven entities seeking to make a positive contribution to the world. Foundations generally address specific issues or unmet needs, and your proposal should be framed to present them with a way to achieve their goals. The Corporate and Foundation Relations Office is happy to assist members of the JMU community solicit corporate and foundation support for academic, research and outreach projects.

Our staff is ready to assist in:

  • Identifying potential funders of your research, project, or program

  • Researching prospective funders and developing strategies for approaching corporations and foundations

  • Writing grant proposals and letters of inquiry

  • Coordinating on-site visits from corporate and foundation representatives

  • Understanding and complying with program reporting

  • Stewarding relationships with current donors

The Office of Corporate & Foundation Relations works in partnership with the JMU Office of Sponsored Programs, which manages federal grants and external funding for sponsored research.
