The 8-12 Physics / Physical Science Academy followed the Physics Teaching Resource Agents (PTRA) program developed by the American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT). The PTRA program is designed to improve physics teaching and learning at the pre-college level. Participants experienced a series of closely linked pedagogically paced activities and experiences designed to help the participants learn to use techniques that are student centered and based on sound Physics Education Research methodologies. The participants developed content knowledge through experimentation and establishing important models for the physical world based on the results of that experimentation. Participants were challenged to take the materials and adapt them for their own setting and the learning readiness of their own students. The physics content emphasis on this week's program was electricity and magnetism.
