The 2012 6-12 Mathematics Academy worked to (1) develop a deeper knowledge of middle or high school curriculum mathematics and (2) explore how to use this knowledge for the benefit of their students. To accomplish these goals, Academy sessions and activities challenged participants to think critically about the mathematics they teach, solve rich problems, and consider how students can develop an understanding of key mathematical ideas.  The Academy faculty, featuring master teachers and teacher educators, used current methods and appropriate technology across the content strands to provide a rich learning experience that participants can bring to their own classrooms.
