CSD 208: Anatomy and Physiology of Speech and Hearing

Course Objectives: Upon completion of CSD 208, students should have knowledge of the anatomical and physiological structures of respiration, phonation, articulation and resonance, and audition. They should also have an understanding of the structure and function of the neuron. This basic knowledge should be further enhanced with an understanding of common pathologies and their impact on speech, language, and hearing.

Requirements: Students are expected to attend class regularly and to participate in all assignments. Satisfactory completion of the following are necessary for a passing grade:

Anatomy is a descriptive science that deals with the structure and relationships of organic systems; physiology is a descriptive science that deals with the functions of these systems.
