The Special Education program offers undergraduate and graduate level coursework to students interested in working with individuals with disabilities but not seeking teacher licensure.
Undergraduate Non-Teaching Minor
The Special Education program has an 18-credit undergraduate non-teaching minor. The undergraduate non-teaching minor is designed for students from programs outside of Special Education (Communication Science Disorders, Psychology, Elementary Education, Secondary Education, etc.) who desire to learn more about persons with disabilities and their educational needs.
Master's in Education - Special Education Non-Teaching
The Special Education program has a 30-credit Master's of Education - Special Education Non-Teaching. The non-teaching M.Ed. is designed for those licensed teachers who wish to further their education in the area of Special Education or those who wish to work with learners with disabilities but not as a teacher. Students in the M.Ed. program must take a minimum of 18 credits in EXED coursework and 12 credits of electives. The M.Ed. is designed with an advisor to meet the student's individual needs and career goals. This program is NOT designed as an alternative route to licensure or Special Education endorsement. Students do have the option of building in a certificate in autism and concentrations in gifted education and English as a second language.
