O'Donoghue Selected as Member of ASLHA Working Group
Dr. Cynthia O’Donoghue, a JMU Associate Professor in the Communication Sciences and Disorders Department, has been selected to serve on a joint working group that will merge two special interest groups of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Combining the topics of the two groups, “Swallowing and Swallowing Disorders (Dysphagia)” and “School-Based Issues,” the joint working group will be responsible for developing policies and documents on dysphagia in schools. Dr. O’Donoghue’s extensive background in this subject makes her a prime candidate for this position. She has gained experience through her work in hospitals, rehabilitation, and neonatal practice, while conducting research and presentations in Dysphagia Management. Dr. O’Donoghue currently has grant funding from the Virginia Department of Education towards a training grant on Dysphagia Management in the Schools.
