Two exemplary faculty members of JMU’s Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) made their department proud this past month.  Receiving one of the highest honors offered by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), CSD Professor Dr. Brenda Seal was named a Fellow at their national convention in Boston on November 16.  Dr. Seal is recognized for teaching more than 1000 students in the Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology programs, directing her clinical work to deaf and hard-of-hearing children and adolescents.  Her extensive work in the realm of sign language is displayed through hundreds of presentations and publications completed over more than 20 years of dedication.  Alongside her colleague, Susan Ingram received the Chapter Advisor of the Year Award.  This recognition is given to the Chapter Advisor who has shown “outstanding achievement and commitment”; an accomplishment epitomized by this Clinical Educator and Instructor who has served as the advisor for the JMU Chapter of the National Student Speech-Language-Hearing Association for the past 18 years.  Congratulations Dr. Brenda Seal and Ms. Susan Ingram!!
