Students Transferring from VCCS

We value transfer students highly.  Currently, as many as 30% of the students currently enrolled in the Computer Science Program (CS) are transfers from the Virginia Community College System (VCCS).

The Computer Science Department has special articulation agreements with Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) and Blue Ridge Community College (BRCC) that pave the way for students to enroll in the CS program. Students at these campuses should follow the articulation agreement for their schools.

Students at other campuses should complete their Associates Degree so that JMU GenEd requirements are met and take as many of the following courses as possible.

Students who take all the courses listed above are enrolled as juniors and are able to complete the program in two years.

It may take as long as three years for students who do not complete the courses above prior to enrolling in the CS Program. This is because of the prerequisite structure within the CS major.
