Staying Safe from "Peepers"
For those who have been victimized by someone who enjoys "peeping" at unsuspecting victims, it is a harrowing experience. We have provided some tips on how to minimize the risk of being stalked or "peeped at."
There are several ways for college students to protect themselves and insure their privacy. Begin by getting into the habit of security by doing the following:
- Keep doors and windows locked at night.
- Close blinds, especially in the bedroom. Add curtains for extra security.
- Communicate with your roommates. Tell them you are going out and when you expect to return. Make someone responsible each night for making sure the door is locked.
- Get to know your neighbors and watch out for each other.
- Be aware of your surroundings.
- Don't hesitate to call police to report a suspicious person.
- If you find someone in your room or outside your window, CALL 911 immediately.
