On behalf of
the Community Coalition on Alcohol Abuse, we would like to welcome
you to our site!

Our Mission
The
Community Coalition on Alcohol Abuse will serve as a coalition of
community members dedicated to the reduction of underage drinking
and alcohol abuse. As part of its mission, the Coalition
will:
Research and
identify problem areas and seek solutions by gaining input from
residents and the student population.
Educate
community members of all ages in the responsibilities and dangers
of inappropriate alcohol consumption.
Provide
helpful and factual alcohol information to business and student
communities.
Background
Several
years ago, the Attorney General recommended that all
Virginia state colleges take a long, hard
look at alcohol abuse on campus. James Madison University
responded quickly with a task
force and several subsequent committees and addressed this very
important issue with new policies, continued educational and
prevention programming that was already working, and the inception
of this coalition.
Many
respectable leaders are already members of this coalition, such as
the Commonwealth's Attorney's office, Rockingham County Sheriff Don
Farley, and Colonel Don Harper, Chief of Police for the
Harrisonburg Police Department.
We
understand the importance of reducing the risk of underage alcohol
consumption and are committed to assisting our local high schools
and community organizations in this most important
effort.
Thank you for visiting our
site!
