Media Arts and Design

Dr. Tale Mitchell’s SMAD 443 course, Creative Advertising Campaigns, is the capstone course for the Creative Advertising Curriculum. This course emphasizes the creative process, including; conceptualizing, brainstorming, idea generation, selling the big idea, copywriting, and design layout.

For their final project, the students are split into advertising agency teams to produce a comprehensive creative advertising campaign that spans across a range of traditional and new media. The deliverables for the campaign include; an agency logo, primary and secondary research; extensive creative strategy concept development, three magazine print ads, a television ad, two social media platform ads, an out-of-home (OOH) ad, a viral video ad, a guerrilla marketing ad, and branded entertainment product placement. These are their final advertising campaign plans books.
