NCA 2016 Review

On November 12th, a plethora of Communication scholars came to Philadelphia to come to the National Communication Association Conference. Among those scholars were two JMU Communication Center consultants, Haley Lawrie and Morgan Wilson! Seniors at the center, the two scholars presented in a GIFTC panel, or Good Ideas For The Center panel, entitled “Our Civic Callings in the Center and other Great Ideas for the Center.”

The two consultants presented on ways in which the Comm Center can better serve English Language Learners in our community through the use of academic vocabulary charts. The youngest presenters in their panel (by far, in their words) their work was well received and hopefully their ideas will be incorporated here at JMU and in similar centers throughout the U.S.! We’re very proud of Morgan and Haley and glad they could represent JMU at NCA as undergraduate scholars!
