(Save the Children) In southern Yemen, a recent landmine explosion claimed the lives of two children and left three seriously injured, bringing the 2024 casualties from explosive ordnance to at least 22, according to Save the Children. The victims, aged 9 to 10, accidentally triggered the device while playing, with four being students at a Save the Children-supported school.

The organization's report reveals that in 2023, over half of the 284 children killed or injured in Yemen were due to landmines and unexploded ordnance. Save the Children emphasizes the urgent need for comprehensive efforts to clear landmines, educate communities, and calls for adherence to international humanitarian law.
