Chuck Snyder ('75)
NewsBanking and social conscience aren’t automatically recognized as companionable, yet for one JMU alumnus, banking is a means for delivering socially responsible change. Chuck Snyder, president and CEO of National Cooperative Bank, headquartered in Washington, D.C., is a strong advocate for “mission banking” that infuses communities with economic development to create positive change by providing banking products and services to cooperatives and other member-owned organizations with a special emphasis on low- and moderate-income communities. Chuck believes in the motto ‘Do Well to Do Good,’ and over the past five years, under his leadership, NCB provided $1.7 billion in direct lending and investments to these communities nationwide.
