JMU News

Due to the inclement weather and to allow for students to safely return to campus, James Madison University will be closed on Tues., Jan. 18.

JMU will not hold any classes, which includes classes that are scheduled to meet online. Students with questions should contact their instructor.

Faculty have the following options to make up missed instructional time:

  • Hold class during the official make-up day, which is Sat., Jan. 22.
  • Hold class at a time acceptable to all class members other than the regularly scheduled time or the make-up day. The time and location will be arranged by the academic unit.
  • Accommodate the missed instructional time within the remaining class meeting time.
  • Hold class through electronic means at a future date.

Students should check their JMU e-mail for updates from their instructors and are encouraged to work with their professors for any additional questions or needs.

Residence halls and select dining facilities will be open as students return to campus.
