Vaccinations available for JMU Faculty and Staff Friday April 9

News

Faculty, Staff and Graduate Assistants,

I’m writing to you today to make you aware of an opportunity for JMU employees to schedule a COVID-19 vaccination for FRIDAY, APRIL 9.

The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) and the Central Shenandoah Health District (CSHD) are now vaccinating people who fall into Phase 1c. If you have not yet received vaccination or been scheduled for a vaccine appointment, please click the link below to schedule an appointment to be vaccinated:

The vaccination offered is Pfizer

NOTE: This link is for JMU faculty, staff and graduate students only. Do not forward this link to people who are not employed by JMU.

The vaccinations will take place at the JMU Convocation Center. Parking is available but may be limited. You are encouraged to walk or use public transportation.

JMU Identification may be required. Bring your JAC Card or a printout of your most recent pay advice from MyMadison.

If you have questions about scheduling an appointment, contact VDH directly at cshd_esf8@vdh.virginia.gov

If you are unable to schedule an appointment at this time, there will be more opportunities coming soon. Make sure that you are pre-registered at the link below and that you have identified yourself as an employee of an institute of higher education.

OR you may call:
(877) VAX-IN-VA
(877) 829-4682

Please monitor your email closely in anticipation of additional appointment dates and times.

Employees are not required to take the vaccine. Choosing to be vaccinated is your personal and voluntary choice.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS PROVIDED BY CSHD:

1. Who is this invitation for? This invitation is for JMU employees. All interested individuals not yet vaccinated should preregister through vaccinate.virginia.gov or by calling 1-877-VAX-IN-VA (1-877-829-4682).

2. Can I share the registration link with extended family and friends? Not for this clinic. Invitations are not to be forwarded to any other individual or organization without expressed consent from the Central Shenandoah Health District.

3. Will I lose out on getting vaccinated if I can't make it? What if all the appointments are taken? More clinic opportunities will be sent to preregistered individuals unable to attend this clinic. You will not be removed from the preregistration system.

4. Can I have my choice of vaccine? You may wait for other clinic invitations. CSHD cannot guarantee Moderna, Pfizer, or Johnson & Johnson availability at future events.

5. What if I already have an appointment scheduled or received my first or second dose? Please keep any already scheduled appointments for first and second doses. If you continue to receive invites after vaccination, know that CSHD is currently unable to correct the issue, but the state health department is working on a solution.

6. What if I still need to schedule my second dose appointment? Persons who have received their first dose but do not have a second dose appointment scheduled should email cshd_esf8@vdh.virginia.gov, briefly explain their situation, and attach a picture of their vaccination card.
