JMU governing board to meet April 24

The James Madison University Board of Visitors will meet by electronic communication means on Friday, April 24, 2020 at 1 p.m. to discuss with university leadership the university’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Board members will access the meeting electronically via WebEx. The meeting will be held in open session. No public comment will be taken at the meeting.

Pursuant to Va. Code § 2.2-3708.2 A. (3), an electronic meeting is permitted when the Governor has declared a state of emergency in accordance with Va. Code § 44-147.17, provided that (i) the catastrophic nature of the declared emergency makes it impracticable or unsafe to assemble a quorum in a single location and (ii) the purpose of the meeting is to address the emergency. The Rector, in consultation with the President of the University, has determined that it would be both impracticable and unsafe to assemble a quorum in a single location for this meeting.  The purpose of the meeting is to discuss certain matters related to the emergency declared by Governor Northam on March 12, 2020.
