Employee Update

News

The following communicaiton was sent from Rick Larson, Assistant Vice President, Human Resources Training & Performance to JMU employees on March 13, 2020.

Staff and Faculty of James Madison University,

James Madison University officials continue to closely monitor the COVID-19 pandemic. We are following guidance from the Governor of Virginia, the Virginia Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention related to public safety and university operations.

As you are aware, this is a rapidly changing situation.

Today, Governor Ralph Northam ordered all K-12 schools to close on Monday and remain closed for two weeks. If you expect that you will need to make alternate work arrangements or miss work this Monday to care for children out of school, please contact your supervisor to share this information.

We request that all supervisors be as flexible as possible with employees who may request accommodations on Monday to care for children.

We have received many questions about what will be expected of employees in the coming weeks. Additional information on that, including detailed guidance for supervisors, will be sent by 5pm on Monday.

Thank you all for coming together in these unprecedented times to support each other.

Take care,
Rick Larson
Assistant Vice President, Human Resources Training & Performance
