New Bus Service Aims To Reduce Traffic Congestion on JMU Campus

News

In an effort to reduce vehicle congestion in the central part of the JMU campus, a new bus service for students, faculty and staff will begin Monday, Oct. 5.

The "Convo Express" service will run a continuous loop from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, shuttling passengers from the Convo F parking lot (adjacent to the softball field) to the bookstore shelter. Along the route, riders will be able to exit or board the bus at any bus stop in between. Stops will include the Festival, Physics/Chemistry and ISAT.

Riders can connect with one of the inner campus shuttles at the stops to get to parts of campus the Convo Express does not pass. The Convo Express will arrive at each of its stops every 10 minutes.

Commuter or resident permits will be required to park at the Convo F lot, which has 389 spaces.

To inaugurate the service, the first 800 riders will receive a coupon that can be redeemed at either Einstein Bros. or Chick-fil-A to get select items for free, courtesy of JMU Dining Services.
