Nearly 700 candidates for academic degrees will become graduates of James Madison University during commencement exercises Saturday, Dec. 13, in the JMU Convocation Center.
JMU President Linwood H. Rose will confer degrees at the 10 a.m. program. Approximately 675 students will receive degrees - 566 at the undergraduate level, 108 at the graduate level and one at the doctoral level.
Joseph F. Damico, a founding partner and operating principal of RoundTable Healthcare Partners and a member of the JMU Board of Visitors, will speak at the commencement program. Damico, who recently completed a two-year term as rector of the board of visitors, holds an MBA and a bachelor of arts degree in marketing from JMU, which he earned in 1977 and 1976, respectively.
Damico has more than 31 years of healthcare industry operating experience, previously as executive vice president of Cardinal Health Inc. and group president of Allegiance Corp. Prior to the acquisition of Allegiance by Cardinal Health, Damico was president and chief operating officer of Allegiance. He also held senior management positions at Baxter and American Hospital Supply.

Bridgeforth Stadium
The JMU football Dukes play host to the University of Montana Grizzlies in a game that pits two, one-loss teams against each other. The Dukes only loss came against Division I-A Duke University while the Grizzlies lost earlier in the year to Big Sky Conference rival Weber State. The last time the Dukes and the Grizzlies squared off it was for all the marbles in the 2004 NCAA Division I-AA national championship. This time the stakes are just as high as the winner will advance to the national title game while the loser will head home early for the holidays.
