'General Lee' Talks about Civil War Experiences

HARRISONBURG - Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee will talk about his American Civil War experiences - 143 years after the end of the conflict - when he visits Harrisonburg April 7. 

Civil War re-enactor Al Stone will portray Lee in "An Evening with General Robert E. Lee," which traces Lee's battle and life experiences from Gettysburg to Appomattox. The war ended April 9, 1865.

LOCATION: Court Square Theater, Harrisonburg

Stone has portrayed Lee for 13 years at re-enactments, ceremonies, schools, parades and special events, including 97 appearances in 2007. Stone portrayed Lee in the History Channel documentary, "April 1865," and at Liberty University's annual July 4th ceremony in 2002, which was nationally televised. 

Stone, who bears a striking resemblance to Lee, studies historical sources to develop an accurate interpretation of Lee for his presentations. 

The Harrisonburg presentation is sponsored by the James Madison University ROTC. Admission is free and open to the public.
