Description: This is the first session of this two-part workshop. It will be spent watching the LinkedIn Learning course, Editing and Proofreading Made Simple.

You do not need to come to this session if you prefer to watch the course on your own (about 40 minutes). 

Polished, professional communication is critical to effectively convey information and is an absolute requirement to advance anyone’s career at JMU. This course offers simple and clear tips to edit writing, apply it in a variety of media, and create style guides and templates to streamline your work.


After completing this session, you will be able to:

  • Use five keys to effective editing
  • Apply rules to emails, presentations and blog posts
  • Edit your own and others’ work
  • Apply basic formatting
  • Create style guides and templates to increase productivity
