Prep Your Promotion (Online Institute)

A one-week institute to make plans for promotion and create preliminary dossier drafts.

This program is for faculty who are on the way to their next promotion and can use community to draft a preliminary (or final?) packet and make plans for the remaining years or months until promotion. This includes faculty coming up for mid-tenure review in 2023-24, faculty who have been tenured for 2-3 years and are wondering what they have to do to be ready for full professor in another 2-3 years, or faculty who have been in renewable-term appointments for a few years and will be eligible for promotion soon.

If you belong to one of those groups, join this community of colleagues for an intensive week-long institute (online, with the possibility of meeting in person as well) to create a preliminary draft of your promotion dossier and identify areas for further activity until promotion.

Participants will outline specific activities that will enhance the skills needed to succeed in their current role, prioritize resources and time spent on activities that are important and beneficial for their development and performance, document goals and developmental needs that support them in reaching their career goals, decide on materials to include in their dossier, write draft narratives, review each other’s work, determine questions to ask of their academic unit heads and PACs and get ahead of the dossier curve.
