Using Reflection to Help Students Make Sense of STEM Content

Fri, 24 Feb 2023 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM

Explore inclusive practices to aid students in making sense of content and connecting with others.

With the predominant hurry culture, college students may react without pausing before acting. Reflective practices provide opportunities to pause. Also, the implementation of inclusive practices within the classroom targets student experience as an asset to the learning experience. Introducing reflective and inclusive practices to STEM students may allow for opportunities for the students to make sense of content and connection with others.

In this ONLINE session, an approach to engage students in STEM courses to document evidence of their own development will be shared. Participants will explore the links between reflective and inclusive practices. The participants will also collaboratively explore ways to apply activities in designing learning experiences that fit their own interests.
