MISSION:
...to promote undergraduate research scholarship and creative activity done in partnership with faculty or other mentors as a vital component of higher education. Integrating research into the curriculum is a growing practice in American universities and is being further supported financially by federal research agencies. The National Conference on Undergraduate Research's annual conference creates a unique environment for the celebration and promotion of undergraduate student achievement as it exists in various disciplines and types of institutions.
The 28th National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR)
The deadline for JMU internal applications for students to attend the 2014 National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) is NOON, Friday, October 11, 2013 .
Please note the JMU internal application process consists of two steps:
There are two steps involved in the application process.
- First, interested candidates must apply to represent JMU (electronically).
- Then if selected internally, candidates apply to NCUR through submission of the on-line abstract for acceptance.
- Upon notification from NCUR of acceptance to attend the conference, contact Sponsored Programs for instructions regarding the final registration process.

Due: NOON, Friday, October 11, 2013ELECTRONIC PROCESS: To aid in the application process, JMU internal NCUR applications are available through the Sponsored Programs website in Word format. JMU students who wish to apply should work with their faculty mentor and gain approval of their research abstracts prior to submitting their internal application. NOTE: Meeting this deadline enables the Undergraduate Research Selection Committee to review the applications and select students to represent JMU. Those candidates selected by JMU must then register with NCUR in time for the NCUR registration deadline. Once selected, students then move on to the second step.
STEP 2 - "External" Abstract Submission for Selected Students only
Successful External Applications (NCUR)
Students selected by the JMU Selection Committee to attend NCUR will be contacted by email after the initial application process and are required to submit their electronic abstract and other information online for consideration for acceptance by NCUR officials.
Only the primary presenter should submit the abstract for consideration on behalf of his or her team or group.
Upon notification from NCUR of acceptance to attend the conference, contact OSP for instructions regarding the final registration process.
