Technologies
The following James Madison University technologies are available for licensing through its affiliate, James Madison Innovations, Inc.
Biotechnology
Bioplastics - Methods of making biodegradable plastic with polyhydroxyalkanoates comprising 4-hydroxybutyrate monomer units (US 6,117,658).
- New series of organic nanoparticles, or amphiphile compounds, have a unique two-headed structure that allow the organic compounds to work in unusual ways. Initial tests indicate that the amphiphiles could be a more effective, but less caustic, antimicrobial than many chemical products on the market today (PCT/US2011/057036). More information here.
Health and Life Sciences
- Skin Probiotics – Composition and process of delivering a naturally occurring microbe, Janthinobacterium Lividum to the skin to suppress bacterial and fungal growth (US 20110002891). More information here.
Materials Science
- Method of adhering thin metal film, such as gold (Au) and platinum (Pt), on polymeric substrates. The method could have broad applications in a variety of technologies including polymer microdevices, microfluidics, sensors, biomedical devices, flat panel displays, batteries, photovoltaic devices, “lab-on-a-chip”, and the aerospace, semiconductor, and automotive industries (PCT/US2012/047416). More information here.
Information Technology
- Digital media management system with sophisticated tools for discovering, aggregating, and presenting digital media in a wide variety of learning spaces built on open source technologies. More information here.
