What is "Transfer 1787"?

It was August 1787 when James Madison and his buddies met in Philadelphia and wrote the U.S. Constitution. Through wigs and wooden teeth, they made a tremendous transition! This country was never the same, and you won't be either after your time at 1787. JMU August Orientation is called 1787 because the month of August will bring tremendous transitions for you. Take a look at the Transfer 1787 schedule page and by the end of these few days, you'll be ready for your new life at JMU.

Here's How It Works…

Transfer 1787 August Orientation will begin on Friday, August 24th for all new transfer students. This is a very exciting time and opportunity to meet new friends, reconnect with your ANTS, and really learn your way around campus so you won't be lost on the first day of classes. So, block off August 24-26 on your calendar because we have some neat things planned for you!

If you were unable to attend Transfer Summer Springboard, your first program will begin at 11:30 a.m. Check out the Transfer 1787 schedule page for more information.

All new transfer students will check-in at 12:30 p.m. in Taylor Down Under (Taylor Hall, 1st floor). At check-in you will receive several materials, including a full schedule of programs and a student planner. Also, enjoy our ice cream social and while meeting new friends. Check out the Transfer 1787 schedule page for more information.
