On Monday, March 21, members of the WRTC community came together for the 3rd annual WRTC Day - an all-day event meant to help students identify opportunities in the WRTC major and minor to maximize their WRTC proficiencies beyond JMU. This year, the WRTC Alumni Council members created a conference-style event themed: "We Create Opportunity, Shaping Our Future." Several alums returned to campus to share their experiences and expertise with our current students, and alumni and faculty also had time to catch up and to network. Panel sessions on such topics as "Staying Relevant in Today's Workplace: How to Upgrade your Toolbox after College" and "Branding Yourself: How to Succeed by Inventing and Reinventing Yourself" were supplemented by Textron Systems' session on "Technical Writing Opportunities in the Defense Industry." The events of the day were well attended, and students raved about how much they learned and were inspired by our brilliant alumni and their exciting careers. The alumni, in turn, found the students' energy and positivity moving, leading many to comment on their renewed commitment to serving the WRTC community. Check out our photos from this wonderful event!
