Dr. Linder Receives External Funding to Instruct Teachers of the Chesapeake Bay and its Watershed

News

Dr. Fletcher Linder, Director of the Interdisciplinary Liberal Studies Department, has been awarded $4,650 from the Chesapeake Bay Restoration Fund for his project entitled, “Place-based Teacher Education: Using the Chesapeake Bay and its Watershed.” ISAT professors Cindy Klevickis and Eric Fitzgerald will be using the grant to give future teachers the knowledge and enthusiasm to provide meaningful watershed experiences for elementary and middle school students.

Project goals are to expand future teachers’ knowledge of the Chesapeake Bay and its watershed, including intersecting areas of ecology, economic development, and policy; provide hands-on training for future teachers in watershed management and restoration; and strengthen future teachers’ commitment to watershed stewardship.

Best of luck to the many future teachers who will benefit from this grant!    crab and student
