Andrew Carpenter presents his Mark Bertus prize winning paper - 2016

SUMMARY: Andrew Carpenter, '16, won the Mark Bertus Prize for best paper at the Financial Management Association (FMA) Annual Conference, on Oct. 21.


Andrew Carpenter, ‘16, won the Mark Bertus Prize for best paper at the Financial Management Association (FMA) Annual Conference, on Oct. 21. The prize of $1,000 is sponsored by CFA Institute. Carpenter’s paper, “Portfolio Diversification with Bitcoin,” was accepted for publication in the June 2016 issue of the Journal of Undergraduate Research in Finance (JURF). 

A multifamily real estate analyst with Freddie Mac, Carpenter wrote the paper last spring as part of the requirements for the course, FIN480, Seminar in Financial Engineering, supervised by finance professor Jason Fink. JURF publishes original, high-quality work written exclusively by undergraduates and covering all areas of finance. FMA’s Annual Meeting brings together academicians and practitioners with interests in financial decision-making.
