(TheDefensePost) Ukrainian developers are creating mine-resistant boots for deminers to withstand anti-personnel mine blasts, aiming to prevent blast-related injuries and save limbs. These boots, featuring a multi-layer Kevlar sole, aim to address the absence of fully protective footwear.

The UN's 2023 International Mine Action Standards removed references to "ballistic protective boots" due to false security concerns. With 40% of Ukraine's territory reportedly mined, the country faces significant challenges. Although Ukraine signed the 1997 Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Treaty, it still contends with anti-vehicle mines. Human Rights Watch accuses both Ukraine and Russia of laying mines in the region, leading to civilian casualties.
