MAG Awarded $2M by U.S. Government for Caribbean Operations

(MAG) The Mines Advisory Group (MAG) receives a $2 million grant from the U.S. government to tackle armed violence and organized crime fueled by illegal weapons across the Caribbean. The funding aims to secure weapons stockpiles and enhance partnerships with CARICOM IMPACS. MAG has already destroyed over 1,700 firearms and provided training in seven member states.

With the Caribbean facing disproportionately high homicide rates, the initiative seeks to combat gun trafficking and improve safety. CARICOM IMPACS and MAG will upgrade infrastructure, provide training, and implement strategies to mitigate weapon diversion and proliferation. This support aligns with the Caribbean Firearms Roadmap's goals and underscores the importance of continued collaboration.
